Why Plagiarism Matters?

Throughout the academic process, plagiarism is a prevalent problem that occurs on a regular basis especially among students. It has increased in the past 10 years! In fact, plagiarism has been shown to be one of the most common reasons for an student's academic integrity to be jeopardized and damaged. 

The main reason why plagiarism matters is that, in all written activities, the sources for the essay must be correctly cited;  otherwise, the integrity of a person in terms of academe will be compromised aside from least learning they acquire. 

Plagiarism is the act of taking from another person's work, including ideas, critical thinking, and language structure. Using, altering, or misappropriating the ideas, words, or concepts of others without their permission or providing incorrect acknowledgment is prohibited by law and is a serious crime. In order to be considered original without plagiarism tendencies, a few words from the source material must be substituted with “own words” in a sentence, which will reduce the likelihood of creating copied work.

There are rigorous rules about the use of synonyms and the reordering of words within a sentence. It is simple to plagiarize others work for your sake, to earn higher grades or because of laziness. But the main point is that plagiarism really matters. It affects integrity, learning capacity, and your trustworthiness.
